Institute of Neurochoreography: First Open Congress (Matthias Sperling)

Activity: OtherTypes of Public engagement and outreach - Public lecture/debate/seminar

Description

This playfully conceived symposium invites artists and academics to expand on the themes of Matthias Sperling’s Now That We Know, a science-fiction performance-lecture.

What if there was such a thing as an Institute of Neurochoreography? And what if this event was the first ‘official’ gathering for anyone interested in contributing to and shaping its activities? This fictional institute plays a part in the imagined future described in Now That We Know, where artists and scientists collaborate to investigate the relationship between body and mind.

Guest speakers include the Berlin-based Singaporean Dance Doctor Choy Ka Fai, dancer and choreographer Colette Sadler, Senior Lecturer in Theatre and Performance Studies at King's College London Dr Kélina Gotman and Dr Guido Orgs, a Lecturer in Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London.
