Trump's War on the Houthis: Strategic Ambiguity and the Lack of Partners

Activity: OtherTypes of Public engagement and outreach - Media article or participation

Description

"In this context, Dr Andreas Krieg, Associate Professor in the Department of Defense Studies at King's College London, said that neither hashtag#Saudi Arabia nor the UAE "will contribute to leading a war against the Houthis, as both countries want to de-escalate the situation and prevent the Houthis from directing their drones and missiles at them."

"Even if the hashtag#UAE is able to lead (any campaigns against the Houthis) from behind the scenes, there remains a risk of exacerbating the fragmented and polarized Yemeni political landscape," he added in an interview with DW. "Any ground intervention is unlikely to end the war in hashtag#Yemen; rather, it would lead to a prolonged and widespread conflict that would push the hashtag#Houthis to further escalation."
