Description
In the past century, decolonisation saw numerous new African countries enter international society as sovereign states. Many of the first generation of African diplomats were trained abroad, in Europe, North America, as well as in Africa. This dataset contains details of African trainees that attended international diplomatic training programmes for newly independent states from 1955-1997. The project analyses the geopolitical dynamics of this diplomatic training through a focus on the spaces, networks, and power relations of learning to be a diplomat.
