Research
King's Classics is an international centre of excellence for research. According to the overall verdict of the 2008 RAE, 30% of our research activity is 'world-leading' (4*), and 35% 'internationally excellent' (3*). The same Exercise rates our 'Research environment' 75% at 4* and 25% at 3*, and our 'Esteem indicators' 100% at 4*.
Much of our research takes the form of individual work by Department members, on everything from a new edition of the fragments of Pindar to the early Christian iconography of the Devil, via Minoan palaces, archaic Corinthian pottery, Athenian inscriptions and Roman freedmen. direct or participate in major collaborative projects.

In these projects and our other work, we benefit from the support of the College's Department of Digital Humanities. Research activities in Greek history and culture, from the Bronze Age to the modern day, are co-ordinated with the Centre for Hellenic Studies, which sponsors a wide variety of research programmes, colloquia, lectures and conferences.
