Comparative Literature is the study of literatures across linguistic and national boundaries, focusing on genres and themes as the initial basis of comparison. In its advanced stages it encompasses more complex forms of comparison between works of literature as well as comparisons between forms of literature and other works of art, such as painting and film.Comparative Literature at King's embraces 12 languages and five continents, and spans over 2,500 years.
