Organisation profile

The Division of Transplantation Immunology & Mucosal Biology was built out of the Department of Nephrology and Transplantation and extended to include Liver and Gastrointestinal Tract studies. It unites expertise in basic immunology and transplantation biology at King’s with clinical research teams at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust and King’s College Hospital who manage some of the largest transplant-patient cohorts in Europe to deliver excellence in research at an internationally competitive level, and pursue top quality patient-orientated studies.

The Division covers a broad range of basic and clinical research. It fosters a spirit of collaborative research and aims to pursue excellence in fundamental medical science as well as translational research, throughout the related clinical research fields at King’s Health PartnersThe MRC Centre for Transplantation sits within the Division as well as working with research teams in Genetics, Dermatology, Imaging, Dental and the School of law and Ethics.

Research Departments:

The five research sections are based at both Guy’s and Denmark Hill campuses of King’s College London with close integration with the two local NHS Trusts – King’s College Hospital and Guys’ and St Thomas’.
