    Biographical details

    Dr Knight is a scholar in the fields of work psychology, health, and healthcare. He has a special interest in the education, training and working lives of healthcare professionals. Alec conducts and publishes research across various clinical areas, as well as in medical education, health policy, health services research and other health-related fields. He is a peer-reviewer for numerous high-profile health journals in these fields.
     
    Alec holds a First Class Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Warwick. His undergraduate dissertation on cognitive processing and postural sway was later published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance. He continued his studies at the University of Nottingham, where he won a scholarship to complete his Master's degree in Occupational Psychology and an ESRC-funded studentship to undertake his Doctorate in Applied Psychology. He was awarded his PhD with zero thesis corrections.
     
    Following completion of his studies, Alec undertook numerous postdoctoral research and teaching positions, including NIHR-funded positions both at the University of Nottingham and King's College London. While at King's College London, he has been nominated for a King's Education Award in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
     
    Alec was promoted to Lecturer in Public Health Education via the Academic Education Pathway in 2021, and Senior Lecturer in Medical Education in 2022. He has led numerous work and health-related modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is an experienced research supervisor who has collaborated with numerous students on publications arising from their studies. He also enjoys talking about and teaching applied research methodology (qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods), and the nature of philosophy and theory in applied health research.
