Research interests include: life-writing and its interdisciplinary links with visual culture; the journal of Keith Vaughan (1912-77); journals, diaries, and experimental auto/biography; C20th and C21st British culture; the life and works of Irène Némirovsky (1903-42); late nineteenth-century literature in England and France.

Biographical details

Alex recently passed an AHRC-LAHP funded PhD in English Research with a thesis on the journal of twentieth-century British painter Keith Vaughan (1912-77) and the dynamics between life-writing, identity formation, and visual art practice. He read for his BA in English at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and studied the MA in Life-Writing at King’s College London. He has worked as Administrator for the Centre for Life-writing Research at King's and as the General Editor of the peer-reviewed research journal Stet (issue 4). Alex is currently conducting further research using the study of life-writing as methodology for interrogating the formation of creative, critical and intellectual identities.
