Biographical details

Alexander joined the Department of European and International Studies in 2023. His research explores the political economy of international migration management, with a focus on EU external migration and development policy in North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Alexander is a recipient of the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS-DTP) studentship in Politics, Public Policy & Governance, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). He holds an MA in International Political Economy from King’s College London and a BA in Middle East and North Africa Studies from New York University Abu Dhabi.

Before joining King’s, Alexander worked as a researcher, programme manager, and policy advisor on issues related to migration and development. His past employers and clients include the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, The Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA), the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED). He is the co-founder of and advisory editor for Afkar: The Undergraduate Journal of Middle East Studies.
