Personal profile
Biographical details
Aline is a Marine Biologist currently undertaking a PhD degree in the Department of Geography jointly with the ZSL Institute of Zoology. Her PhD research investigates seabird soundscapes in the context of foraging at sea, using a combination of miniature bird-borne audio recorders and GPS tracking devices.
Her previous work includes marine mammals conservation research, coastal sensitivity mapping to oil pollution, intertidal biodiversity mapping, environmental education and ethnoecology research.
Research interests
Aline’s research interests lie mainly with marine conservation and ecology. She is particularly interested in exploring and developing research methods to understand spatial structural patterns of animal behaviour and interactions with the environment, for the prediction and long-term assessment of species distribution in relation to environmental change and anthropogenic impacts. She is also interested in investigating how environmental heterogeneity relates to community structure, and how marine protected areas can be used as ‘nature-based solutions’ tools to mitigate the effects of climate change.
