My research is focused on dietetic education. My primary research interest is communication skills in dietetic practice and how dietitians develop these skills across their education and career. I am also interested in inclusive health professions education and how dietetic education can best meet the needs of diverse populations.

I am the Head of the Teaching Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at King's College London and was Director of Dietetic Programmes from 2012-2024.
I graduated with a BSc Human Nutrition & Dietetics in 1994 from Trinity College Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology and I have been a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered dietitian since 1994. I work with the HCPC as a Continuous Professional Development Partner. I am a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and an active contributor to their Higher Education Group. My work with that group has included updating the BDA Curriculum Framework in 2020 and I am part of a working group developing a common practice placement assessment tool for dietetic education in the UK.
