Research interests

His translational research leverages both basic science and clinical expertise to inform the management of patients with arterial disease.

The main area of research is aimed at developing novel therapeutic and diagnostic strategies for patients with critical limb ischaemia, including arteriogenic cell therapies, the use of biomaterials to enhance cell therapy and novel imaging techniques applied to the limb. This work has led to clinical studies that are currently underway in collaboration with national and international partners. These partners include fellow Principal Investigators in the BHF Centre for Vascular Regeneration.

Other research focuses on the biological consequences of arterial interventions. Examples include studies on the deleterious effects of low dose radiation exposure during x-ray guided endovascular procedures and also work aimed at elucidating the pathophysiology of spinal cord ischaemia after endovascular aortic repair.
