Research interests

Dr Simmons has worked at the Institute of Psychiatry in the Department of Neuroimaging since completing her PhD there in 2010. Most of her work has been on developing simultaneous recording of neuroimaging techniques such as EEG, MRI, biosensors and autoradiography for brain metabolism and protein synthesis, using these simultaneous setups for the investigation of cognitive function in pharmacological models of cognitive deficits seen in diseases such as Schizophrenia and Alzheimer's. Her particular interest are in using these setups to further define various models of cognitive deficits to help further elucidate these mechanisms in neurodegenerative disease and therefore help develop treatments that will slow cognitive decline in patients.
