Biographical details

Chenfei LI is a PhD student at the Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries at King’s. Her doctoral research proposes to explore the relationship between urban places and young migrants by investigating the construction of place identity and practices of digital urban placemaking via the lens of place-based memories on social media. She obtained her MA degree with distinction in Digital Asset and Media Management at King’s Department of Digital Humanities and a BA(Hons) degree in International Communications Studies from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). As a Nottingham Advantage Award winner, Chenfei has particularly been focusing her studies on participatory (social) media techniques and people-media interactions, investigating people’s engagement, belongingness, and identity construction practices in virtual urban spaces.

Before joining CMCI, Chenfei worked in the education consulting area as a senior academic counsellor as well as in the 4A advertising industry. Further, she also holds the CATTI (China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters) English-Chinese translation qualification certificate, and served as a Teaching Assistant for the Mandarin for Advanced Learners credit course offered by the UNNC Language Centre. Besides academia, Chenfei has accumulated active connections with marginal youth at NGOs in Malaysia to provide equality education through voluntary project participation.
