Dylan grew up in Switzerland, where he completed an apprenticeship as an Automation Engineer. He studied at the University of Kent, receiving his undergraduate degree in biology, before completing his PhD in microbiology and bio-imaging entitled ‘Rapid Fluorescence Amplified Biofilm Detection’ in the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at King’s College London.

Dylan's research was primarily concerned with developing fluorescence-based methods for the detection of residual viable cells in biofilms following disinfection, including in-vitro studies as well as a clinical trial. Following this, he worked as a postdoc, assisting with the running of a clinical trial and co-supervision of project students.

While completing his PhD and post-doctoral research, Dylan gained in-depth experience using various fluorescence microscopes: widefield, confocal, multiphoton microscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy (Nikon, Leica, Zeiss, and in-house). He also gained experience carrying out work in microbiology labs, including bacterial culturing, biofilm formation, various disinfection studies, fluorescence staining, as well as the management of clinical studies.

Following his post-doctoral work, Dylan began his role as a Microscope Specialist before becoming the Deputy Manager of the Microscopy Innovation Centre, where he deepened his experience in fluorescence microscopy and facility work. 

Dylan has since taken over the role as Manager of the Nikon Imaging Centre at King's College London.
