My current work focusses on the spectatorship of death in American cinema, examining how different genres deal with images of mortality, and, more importantly, how they are communicated to an audience in such a way that death is able to become a form of entertainment (of sorts). The project is partially funded by a King’s Alumni Bursary. My other research interests include genre, cinephilia, spectatorship, spectacle, special effects, aesthetics, excess and ethics and the empathetic potential of villainous protagonists. I am very interested in contemporary American cinema, especially in relation to changing censorship regulations and values. I completed my BA in Film Studies at The University of Wolverhampton in 2009. I then went on to study for my MA at King’s College London in 2009-10. I am currently writing my PhD in the Film Studies department at King's College London, where I also teach undergraduate students as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
In 2012 I taught Film Forms: An Introduction to Film Studies, which I will be teaching again in 2013-14 as well as Film History 1980's to Present. In addition to this I am working towards attaining my PGCAP. I will shortly attain accreditation as an Associate Fellow of King's College London.
