Biographical details
Elham Zarrinpashneh is a Research Associate at King's College London, Cardiology department since October 2012.
Born in Iran, Elham obtained her PharmD degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) in 1998.
After working for 4 years as a Pharmacist, she then moved to Belgium and obtained a DEA in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2002-2003) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (2003-2007), from Universite catholique de Louvain (UCL) medical school.
She worked as a Post doctoral researcher at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation unit, Dundee University (2008-2009) and Imperial College London (2009-2012).
Her research focuses on inflammation, metabolic syndrom and their role in the development of cardiovascular diseases.
She investigated signalling pathways implicated in heart regeneration (SGK1; mIGF-1); Metabolism (AMPK, LKB-1) and inflammation (TLR4,TLR9).
Her current project at King's involves the role of cardiac fibroblasts (CF) in the prevention of cardiac rupture after myocardial ischemia (MI).
