Erikas is a NIHR Maudsley BRC PhD student and a member of the Nicotine Research group in the Department of Addictions. Before starting his PhD, Erikas worked with Dr Leonie Brose on the project aimed at improving smoking cessation support for smokers with mental health problems.
Erikas holds a BA in Psychology and MA (cum laude) in Clinical Psychology, which he graduated at Vilnius University (Lithuania), and in 2014 he completed the MSc in Addiction Studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN). Erikas has over four years' experience working as a clinical psychologist in addiction treatment services in Lithuania and his research interests include motivation to change substance-using behaviour and possible ways to prompt and support it. His PhD project focuses on transitions between different means of nicotine use among smokers who are not willing or cannot quit smoking for good
