Research interests

The study of linguistic structure might give us insight into the human mind, communication or the world about which we speak. Representing this structure requires using formal methods which often come with their own philosophical baggage. I’m looking at how the notion of ‘self-organisation’ can be applied to language in a substantive significant sense.

I am interested in the philosophy of language, linguistics and biology as well as the history of philosophy, particularly Berkeley, Nietzsche, De Selby and Kant.
