Research interests

The research interests of the group are in the study of the physical nature of the interactions between protein-protein, protein-solvent, protein-lipid and protein-nucleic acid. We use bioinformatics methods to analyse the available data on such interactions and molecular simulations and biophysical theoretical methods to characterise and determine their stability. We develop methods for simulations of Proteins and Nucleic Acids. We focus in particular to proteins involved in neurodegenerations and kinases involved in cancer. Recently, the group has focused on Human protein-protein interaction networks, their characterisation in terms of 3D structures and conserved domains, and the analysis of the relative complexes interfaces. We have developed tools to map and estimate the impact of genetic variation on protein  interactions and their structural stability.
