Research interests

Helena Webb is a Research Associate and a member of the Work, Interaction & Technology Research Centre (WIT) in the Department of Management. Her work uses video data to investigate interactions in healthcare settings. Helena joined KCL in September 2009 to work with Christian Heath and Dirk vom Lehn on the ‘Assessing eye sight and ocular health’ project, which explored the everyday work of eye care practitioners including their communication with patients and use of novel technologies. Helena, Christian and Dirk are now collaborating with the College of Optometrists to put together a communication skills training package for eye care practitioners. – further details of this project can be seen here: http://keprojectoptometry.wordpress.com/

Helena’s PhD investigated doctor-patient communication in obesity consultations. She is interested in conducting further work on behaviour management and ‘lifestyle’ conditions, as well as healthcare settings involving novel technologies, such as electronic patient records and robotic surgery.
