Idil Ires

Idil holds a Bachelor´s degree on Food and Agricultural Sciences, and Master´s degree on Integrated Natural Resources Management with a specialization on agricultural economics in East Africa. Postgraduate research experience on agricultural extension services in Vietnam with Hanoi University of Agriculture. Master´s thesis on water management at large public irrigation projects in the Blue Nile Basin of Ethiopia. Research in Ethiopia conducted as a part of the Livestock and Irrigation Value Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in Addis Ababa and supported by Amhara Agricultural Research Institute (ARARI) in Bahir Dar. In 2016-17, held a visiting scholar position at the University of Dar es Salaam, and trained on Human Rights and Environment at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law in Switzerland. A joint PhD candidate in Political Science at Humboldt University of Berlin and Geography at King´s College London, and affiliated with Transdisciplinary Concepts & Methods Research Domain at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany. Speaks fluent English, German, Kiswahili and Turkish. Sponsored by German Business Foundation and currently based in London, United Kingdom.
