Dr Ilia Protopapa is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Marketing at King’s Business School. Ilia’s areas of expertise and interest include brand management, consumer behaviour, marketing communications and regulatory focus. Ilia’s pedagogic research interest focuses on higher education, branding, connectivity, and inclusive education. Ilia has published book chapters in the context of marketing communications in 'The Handbook of Research on Customer Loyalty' (Edward Elgar Publishing) and higher education for the 'Strategic Brand Management in Higher Education' (Routledge).
Her research has awarded the 'Best Paper Award in Track' award from the American Marketing Association in 2022 in United States. Her PhD research was awarded a 'fully funded PhD Studentship' in 2016 and received the ‘Best Doctoral Research Student Poster Prize’ in 2017 from Kingston Business School, London, United Kingdom. Ilia is a Co-guest Editor of a special issue of the Marketing Education Review journal on 'Diversity and Inclusion Practices in Marketing Education' and acts as a reviewer for peer-reviewed business journals.
Since she joined the faculty in 2019, Ilia was appointed as an Inclusive Education Partner Lead, and she is strategically working towards closing the attainment gap at King’s Business School. Ilia is leading the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) item at the Faculty Education Committee and she is an active steering group member of the Digital Education Steering Group and Pedagogy Group at King’s Business School. Ilia is invited as a guest speaker to the Chartered ABS Annual Conference to share her expertise on supporting disadvantaged students and tackling award gaps in 2021.
Ilia is a Certified Management and Business Educator at the Chartered Association of Business Schools and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
She teaches Marketing Research for the International Marketing MSc, Digital Marketing MSc and online Marketing MSc programmes at King’s College London and she is supervising postgraduate dissertation projects.
Ilia’s teaching and pedagogic approaches have been recognised through various awards and recognitions such as the nomination for the ‘King’s Education Award 2021' and ‘King’s Education Award 2020' at King's Business School as well as the ‘Lecturer of the Year 18/19’ at Kingston Business School.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
