Jana Melkumova-Reynolds is a PhD candidate in the Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries at King’s College London and a journalist. Her research focuses on the body and (self-)representation in contemporary and historic media and in the workplace, particularly in fashion. She is currently co-editing a volume provisionally entitled Bodies In Flux: Future Anatomies, an interdisciplinary compendium that studies representations of modified and cyborg bodies in contemporary literature, media and visual arts (under contract with Brill Publishers).
She has devised and co-convened the conference Fashion//Intersections: Bodies, Cultures, Spaces, held in London College of Fashion (University of the Arts London), and presented her research at numerous events. Outside of academia, she is a contributor to a variety of media outlets, including SHOWstudio.com, Business of Fashion, Dazed & Confused, etc. She has been interviewed by The Guardian for a feature on fashion as a workplace in the Education section. Over the years, she has also consulted for a number of consumer and apparel brands and institutions.
