Biographical details

Dr Javier-David Lopez-Morinigo MB BS PhD is an Honorary Senior Clinical Researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), part of King's College London, and inpatient general adult consultant psychiatrist at Churchill Hospital.

Dr Lopez-Morinigo studied at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) where he graduated in medicine in 2005. Subsequently he trained in psychiatry. He moved to London in order to complete his higher training and commence his PhD at King's College London in 2009/10.

Dr Lopez-Morinigo became a Specialist Associate of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2011.

His PhD was on the subject of ‘Suicidal behaviour in early psychosis: the role of insight’, which was successfully completed in 2017. He has several peer-reviewed publications from this research and he has participated in major international conferences in the field. He was awarded the British Medical Association Margaret Temple Research Grant for Schizophrenia in 2011 and 2014.
