Justin’s research interest comprises international and comparative copyright law with particular emphasis on EU copyright law. His research project is being supervised by Professor Tanya Aplin and has the working title: “What is the proper scope of the communication to the public right in EU copyright law?” In particular, he is focusing on developing a more coherent framework for the communication to the public right under EU copyright law. To achieve this, the research project employs a largely doctrinal approach together with a loose application of the justificatory pluralist approach.

Some of the themes/issues to be addressed include:

• The development of justificatory pluralism as the means for justifying EU copyright law

• The problems with the existing EU communication to the public right

• The relationship of the EU communication to the public right and the other exclusive rights of EU copyright law

• Proposing a new EU right of communication to the public

• Applying the new EU right of communication to the public to various examples

• Conflict of laws and the new EU right of communication to the public

Justin was a visiting lecturer at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London where he taught 'Trade Marks and Passing Off' to undergraduate students. He is also currently the Editor in Chief of the King's Student Law Review
