Dr Katie Mckinnon is a Chadburn Clinical Lecturer in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, and a Neonatology Subspeciality Registrar in the London School of Paediatrics. She completed her medical training at the University of Oxford and University College London, and her PhD at the University of Edinburgh.

Dr Katie Mckinnon’s expertise includes neonatal neurology and neuroimaging, neurodevelopment, and health equity. Her research investigates how socioeconomic and environmental adversity interacts with medical vulnerabilities, in particular preterm birth, to impact neurodevelopment, physical health, mental health, and educational achievement. She is supervised by Professor Chiara Nosarti and Dr Divyangana Rakesh.

She is part of several national clinical research groups, including the British Association for Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-Up (BANNFU), the Research, Evaluation, and Audit for Child Health (REACH) Network, and NeoTRIPs.

Dr Katie Mckinnon has received awards from the Women in Neuroscience UK, the Neonatal Society, and at the Clinical Academics in Training Annual Conference from the Academy of Medical Sciences.
