Biographical details
A current PhD student in the Film Studies department, Lucy's upbringing on a US overseas military base and her interest in Marvel Comics led to the beginnings of her research on contemporary superhero cinema in the wake of 9/11 with her BA dissertation, "A Character Study of the Post-9/11 Superhero Films of Marvel and DC". This introduction to her research interest was followed by her MA thesis "Iron Man Trilogy & the integration of Western 21st century views of terrorism into the Superhero Genre", beginning the shift to her investigation into the relationship between post-9/11 US politics and the partisan leanings of films in the billion-dollar Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise.
