Research interests

Marie Therese Hosey is Head of the Paediatric Dentistry department, she was among the few dentists in the United Kingdom with training in administering general anaesthesia. She moved to King's College London in 2008. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and physicians of Glasgow and has examined at all levels in th especiality both in the UK and abroad. She wrote the UK and the European clinical guidelines on dental paediatric conscious sedation. She has co-authored five dental textbooks and one medical textbook and is editor of four. She has an interest in 3D imaging and  genetics, particularly in relation to infants with cleft lip and palate, and has mainly devotes her research to the management of anxious children. She conducts Phase II and III randomised controlled clinical trials to test interventions to prevent Early Childhood Caries and to improve the experience of anxious children who have caries, and held funding from the Scottish Chief Scientist Office and NIHR.
