Biographical details

Maja holds a PhD in Cancer Studies at King's College London. Her study has investigated cancer symptom awareness and perception of barriers to seeking medical help in relation to breast, lung, and bowel cancer survival in England. From 2008 to 2009 she was team leader of an interdisciplinary research team conducting a Randomised Controlled Trial at the University of Oxford (UK), at the department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics. Previously she has worked in psychiatric hospitals in Belgrade and volunteered with NGO’s for children with physical and cognitive disabilities.

Maja received a degree in psychology (PGDip. Psychology) from the University of Belgrade (Serbia) in 2005 and holds an MSc in International Public Health awarded in 2008, which was a joint degree completed at the University College London (UK), Queen Margaret University College Edinburgh (UK), and the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). She also holds an MPhil in Health Sciences, focused on medical decision making of women with early-stage breast cancer, at the University of Leeds (UK). 

Research interests

Maja has a particular interest in early diagnosis, cancer symptom awareness and cancer survival. She has a broad interest in understanding health inequalities and ways to improve health behaviour.
