Personal profile

Research interests (short)

My primary research centres on the later Roman Empire and its successor states, with a particular focus on the fifth and sixth century. Within this field, I am particularly interested in exploring various aspects of socio-cultural and political history, particularly the role of ideology, memory and propaganda, and the understanding of political change in the context of state failure, both from contemporary and non-contemporary perspectives.

Currently, I am working on late Roman consuls and consular dating, with a particular focus on the use, meaning and dissemination of consular dates in both the Post-Roman West and Late Roman East.

I also have a strong interest in Latin and Greek epigraphy and papyrology, and in the application of statistical analysis and geospatial modelling to historical research.
