Dr Mathieu Seynaeve qualified in Medicine at Leuven University, Belgium in 2014 and subsequently completed a Master’s in Management at the faculty of Economics. An award for his dissertation on the neurobiology of Bayesian decision making allowed him to visit the Center for Neuroimaging Sciences at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London, where he was involved in a drug trials and neuroimaging studies under supervision of Professor Steve Williams and Professor Mitul Mehta.
Throughout his clinical training in psychiatry at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust Mathieu developed clinical and academic expertise in neuropsychiatry, psychotherapy and psychedelic research. After attaining membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2020, he continued as a Senior Research Associate in the Psychedelic Trials Group (PTG) at the Centre for Affective Disorders, IoPPN, supervised by Dr James Rucker and Professor Allan Young, working on placebo controlled clinical trials with psilocybin for Treatment Resistant Depression and MDMA for PTSD.
