Personal profile

Research interests

With more than 13 years of experience, and key publications in the field of person-centred outcome measurement and research, and implementation, I am interested in contributing to patient-centred outcome assessment globally and patient-centric understanding of interventions and services through high quality and impactful research and education responsive to societal needs.

I am an expert in the design, delivery and management of development, validation, and implementation of patient-centred outcome measures across settings of care, both locally and globally. I have led patient-centred outcome research across the UK and rest of Europe, and most recently in the US with as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard Medical School. I have a strong background research methods in psychometrics, both classical as well as item response theory, and have been leading the patient outcomes programme of NIHR funded Applied Research Collaboration Palliative and End of Life Care theme, working with collaborators and stakeholders across India, New Zealand, UK and other European countries, Brazil, and America. As a member of the Patient Outcome Committee at the King’s College Hospital NHS Trust, I support patient-centric endpoint strategies at the Trust as well as with King’s Health Partners. As a key member of the Patient Outcome Scale team at KCL, as an expert I support global adaptation and implementation of measures in research studies. I have recently authored a chapter on the role of PCOMs in auditing services in Oxford Textbook of Palliative Care. I mentor and supervise research with PCOMs and working on projects on mapping and cross-walking generic PCOMs to preference-based measures to further economic evaluation in complex interventions.

I support learning and adoption of evolving methodologies in measurement by teaching Study design, Survey methods, Protocol development and Patient-centred outcomes in routine use courses for the MSc program in Palliative Care at KCL as well as attending trainings. I am a peer reviewer for Quality-of-Life Research, Health and Quality of Life Outcomes, Lancet Digital Health, BMJ Supportive and Palliative Care and BMC Palliative Care and guest editor in Frontiers in Public Health. I want to use my training and academic skills to contribute, bridge theory and practice, and drive forward collaborative sustainable high quality and impactful research and education in life-limiting illnesses to address societal needs.
