    Research interests

    Niccolò is Lecturer in Public International. He joined The Dickson Poon School of Law in 2021 having previously worked at the University of Liverpool, the University of Copenhagen, and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.

    He holds a PhD from King’s College London, an LLM from the University of Cambridge, and an LLB/MA from the University of Florence. He is also an alumnus of the 'Silvano Tosi' Research Seminar in Parliamentary Studies.

    Niccolò is a member of the European Society of International Law, the Society of International Economic Law, and the Network of Empirical Legal Scholars. He is also the Assistant Editor of the Journal of International Dispute Settlement.

    His interests cover most areas of international law (public and private) and international dispute settlement. His current research applies doctrinal and empirical methodologies, including large-scale data mining and social network analysis, to questions concerning the output, argumentative processes, and performance of international courts and tribunals, as well as the makeup of the communities of practice that exist in and 'create' international law. 

    Niccolò is finalising two books: one on the use of precedent in international adjudication and one on the principle of comity in private and public international law (with Thomas Schultz).
