Research interests

My fundamental interests are founded in the understanding of how the homeostasis of the nervous system is maintained in healthy ageing. I’m using multi-model approach to study compensatory mechanisms for coping with sustained stress which include persisting functional consequences, such as neuronal over-sensitivity and vulnerability. During my NC3R fellowship I’m developing novel approaches in fruit fly models to aid studies on chronic pain. A strategy targeting efficient and sensible use of existing mammalian models through integration of the versatile and powerful genetic toolbox made accessible by decades of basic studies in Drosophila melanogaster.
