Dr
Panicos is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Maternal & Fetal Medicine at King's College London and Kings College Hospital (KCH). He completed his Masters's degree in Fetal Medicine and Prenatal Genetics from UCL with distinction, and later pursued a PhD at the same institution on the subject of treating genetic blood disorders by transplanting stem cells or gene therapy to the fetus. During this time, he was supervised by Professor Anna David and Professor Paolo De Coppi.
After completing his PhD, Panicos joined KCL as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer and sub-specialised in Maternal and Fetal medicine, working at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and KCH. His research work has focused on prenatal therapy for Sickle Cell Disease and the immunology of pregnancy. He is currently supervising PhD, MSc and BSc students and has received funding from various organisations including the Wellcome Trust, the Academy of Medical Sciences, NIHR, and the Fetal Medicine Foundation. He is working closely with Professors Kypros Nicolaides, John Strouboulis, and Giovanna Lombardi, demonstrating his commitment to collaborative research in the field.
