Patrícia Correia (Pat) graduated from the University of Porto, Portugal in 2002. The following two years she worked in Portugal and then in Ireland. In 2004, Pat enrolled into a PhD at King’s College London, with the following doctorate thesis: “The Influence of Inflammation on Salivary Function”. This led to the publication of three papers. Pat became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2010. Whilst in London, Pat worked in the Community Dental Services and as a clinical teacher in Paediatric Dentistry at KCL. Pat started her specialist training as a NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer, which she completed in 2017. During this, Pat developed a special interest on early childhood caries – prevention and management protocols and antenatal and postnatal oral health care. As part of her training she led on two MSc research projects involving interprofessional collaboration with the antenatal and women’s health departments at St Thomas’ Hospital, which are leading into peer-reviewed publications.
