Personal profile

Research interests

I am interested in the phenomenon of Endothelial Derived Hyperpolarizing Factor and have developed a new approach to investigate it. This forms an important part of the regulation of blood flow through tissues and its dysfunction is one of the elements that contribute to hypertension. I have a long standing interest in the regulation of brain capillary permeability and how it increases dramatically following stroke and trauma. Retinal and skeletal capillary permeability are also studied to help our understanding of how inflammatory merdiators signal permeability changes and how their signalling can be altered during inflammation.
