Sasha’s PhD research focuses on human rights guarantees and women in polygamous marriage in the immigration context, with particular emphasis on feminist legal theory. Sasha has previously carried out research into regional human rights systems, with particular focus on the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Sasha is interested the rights of women and children, the efficacy of human rights more generally and the relationship between individual rights guarantees and social cohesion.
Sasha is a PhD candidate at King’s College London School of Law, working under the supervision of Dr Prabha Kotiswaran and Professor Aileen McColgan. Sasha was awarded a first class Master's degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford in 2009. She also has undergraduate degrees in law and history from Otago University, New Zealand.
Previously, Sasha has taught Human Rights Law at King’s College London School of Law. She has also lectured in international human rights law, public law, jurisprudence and first year law at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Sasha is an experienced legal practitioner, having previously advised governments at the national and local level, as well as corporate and commercial entities. Sasha is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
