Research interests

Sebastian Kozerke’s research interests are focused on Magnetic Resonance methods for functional and metabolic imaging of the cardiovascular system. The research work aims at providing diagnostic tools to characterize the functional state of the heart and circulatory system in humans with adequate spatiotemporal resolution. Probing diffusion properties of cardiac muscles to gain insights into fiber configuration and dynamic rearrangement thereof constitutes a further field of research. With metabolic information being a very early marker in cardiac diseases, dedicated research to enhance the weak Magnetic Resonance signals from metabolic products is pursued. Beyond the heart, methods to visualize air flow in lungs are developed.
