I joined King’s as Lecturer in Religion and Social Science in September 2018, having also completed my postgraduate studies here – I was awarded my doctorate in the sociology of religion in 2015. Before coming to King’s, I was a research officer at Inform, contributing research on new religious movements, particularly those associated with Islam and Judaism. Before that, I was Associate Lecturer in Religious Studies at the University of Kent and a research intern at the William Temple Foundation.

I embarked on an academic career after having spent several years in my native Malaysia working in human rights advocacy, journalism, music, and theatre. I continue to balance my academic scholarship with more creative and community-based efforts in Britain and Malaysia.
