Siqi Liu

Siqi Liu is a Ph.D. candidate in Film Studies at King’s College London. Her research focuses on a comparative study between Daoist philosophy and Euro-American film and media theories, as well as films of the South China New Wave. Besides majoring in Film Studies, she completed double minors in Chinese Language and Literature as well as Theatre Studies. Her articles have been published in Asian Cinema and Routledge.

Liu worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the Film Studies Department at King’s College London between 2021 and 2023 and was recognised as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) in 2023. She is currently an editorial assistant for Asian Cinema.

Liu’s research interests include comparative film and media theories; Daoist philosophy and aesthetics; Deleuzian and Simondonian philosophy; Chinese cinemas, with a close focus on the South China New Wave; digital media and media ecology; cultural studies and interdisciplinary studies.
