Biographical details

Stig Stenslie is Research Director and Head of the Centre for Intelligence Studies at the Norwegian Intelligence School (NORIS) in Oslo.

Stig holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oslo. He has worked in the Norwegian Armed Forces and the University of Oslo, and has been a Visiting Researcher at the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Archives and Research (Darah) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Weatherhead East Asia Institute, Columbia University in New York, and East Asia Institute, National University in Singapore.

He has published several books - which have been translated into various languages - and dozens of articles on a wide range of topics, such as the Royal Familiy of Saudi Arabia, regime stability and change in the Middle East, Chinas return as a great power, Islamic art, and intelligence.

Stig's latest book is Xi Jinping's China: the Personal and the Political (Lynne Rienner, 2023).
