Personal profile

Research interests

My research focuses on biomarker discovery and translational neuroscience, with a particular interest in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and related neurodegenerative disorders. I work across both clinical and laboratory environments to investigate extracellular vesicles, neurofilament light chain (NfL), cytokines, and human endogenous retroviruses (HERV-K) as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. I am especially interested in integrating multi-omic data with clinical phenotyping to improve early diagnosis, disease stratification, and therapeutic monitoring. My work also extends to biobanking, assay development, and the optimisation of clinical trial biomarker pipelines through large-scale collaborative studies. Ultimately, my research aims to bridge mechanistic insights with clinical applicability to advance precision medicine approaches in neurodegeneration.

Biographical details

I am currently a Research Assistant and Clinical Project Coordinator within the UK Motor Neuron Disease Research Institute (UKMNDRI) based at the Maurice Wohl Clinical Neuroscience Institute, King’s College London. I previously held an NIHR Pre-Doctoral Fellowship and completed an MSc in Applied Statistical Modelling and Health Informatics, building on earlier training in Genomic Medicine and Biotechnology. My research career has developed at the interface of molecular neuroscience, biomarker science, and clinical research coordination, with experience across multi-centre studies, patient assessment, and high-throughput laboratory techniques. Alongside my research roles, I contribute to postgraduate teaching and student supervision, and support the King’s MND Biobank through sample management and laboratory processing. I am motivated by a commitment to patient-centred research and to advancing the scientific frameworks that underpin early diagnosis and therapeutic development in ALS and neurodegeneration.
