Yi-cheng studied her undergraduate degree at National Taiwan University and MA at University of York, before coming to study PhD at King's College London in 2012, under the supervision of Dr Elizabeth Eger and Dr Rowan Boyson. She was awarded a visiting fellowship at Chawton House Library (jointly with University of Southampton) in 2015. She is a visiting fellow in Academia Sinica, Taiwan (awarded Academia Sinica Fellowship for Doctoral Candidates in the Humanities and Social Sciences) for 2015-2016.
Her doctoral research focuses on anti-Jacobin novels by British female writers in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. She hopes to show the ways in which they participate in the literary and intellectual debates, and negotiate the notions of gender, identity, and women’s duty and role in society.
