Over the last year few years I have been building and developing a database that manages all the activities in my lab including sample tracking and workflows. People who have seen it have been impressed and this prompted me to see if it could be moved further. To this end I have been awarded some funds from the Sparking Impact scheme to commercialize it with a software company. However - and the point of this email - I also entered a competiion held by an organization ( http://www.effectivelab.org.uk ) and have been shortlisted. I am now preparing the stage 2 application and if I win my category will be presented with the award at their conference actually being held at King's in September.
