Abstract

This paper outlines initial steps in the Self-NET project towards developing architecture and solutions for realising a vision on Future Internet (FI) evolution based on integration of cognition and autonomics in self-managed networks. Development of architecture and required steps are considered “key elements” of the design as they include conceptual and practical stages of the fusion of self-management and FI. Some of the steps and principles for foundation of the architecture of self-managed FI networks are presented in this paper by initially focusing on conceptual issues of applied cognitive cycles in autonomic FI elements and theory of self-management methods applied. Then an outlook is shown on where and how such networks would be deployed demonstrated in the use-cases summary. Finally, functional architecture postulates present a framework on how the developed conceptual templates would be integrated in Self-NET functional systems.
