Abstract

The object may not seem a dominant focus on the work of French literary critic and theorist Roland Barthes, focused as it is on textuality and signification. However there is a persistent topos which isolates objects as manifestations of the everyday (le quotidien) and situates them as the potential vectors of a sociality and of a materialism resistant to ideological capture.
