Abstract

This article will highlight measures taken to incentivise and enable reserve force service in the Australian Defence Force, with a focus on the Army Reserve. No comment will be made on applicability to the Irish Reserve Defence Force, however, notwithstanding significant economic, geographical, and cultural differences between the two bodies, nevertheless some of the measures presented here might well be applicable to Ireland’s situation. The interested Irish reader must decide the extent to which some, all, or none of the points raised here are relevant to the Irish Reserve Defence Force in 2021.
