This is edited collection of witness seminars (group interviews) and interviews conducted with senior British politicians, policymakers and defence personnel that examines the First Gulf War from their perspective. This has not been done before. Most other works have focused on the US contribution to and handling of this conflict, with little discussion of the UK's role. The 8000 word introduction analyses these testimonies, points out what new has been learnt from this exercise and shows how the existing literature should be improved. This project was funded by the British Academy.
